The retail strategy, design and project management of a new prototype store for Greggs.

Key to the project was to listen to customers and increase and enhance the shop floor space giving them more room to browse. This also gave us the opportunity to extend the bakery offer giving city centre customers a greater range of the Greggs fantastic bakery and bread products.

The design of this prototype store uses a warm, rich colour palette and large-scale photographic images taken in one of the Greggs Bakeries to reinforce the Greggs bakery credentials. A roll in fascia sign connects to the wood effect ceiling stripe that leads customers to the back of the store. Seating is arranged at the front of the store and outside and a redesigned counter and new display stands all serve to put the product to the fore. The products are clearly grouped in a logical order for customer selection and the queue location has been designed into the store. The new counter enables us to get more product within the same area creating an abundant bakery wall to select from, developing sales at the till.

The refurbishment of this Chicago Rock Café not only included a full interior and graphics re-brand, but also a new sound and light system. The bright and dynamic graphic treatment behind the stage adds to the brand character both during the day and evening.

Although the main structural elements within the bar were retained, the whole space was opened up and creating distinct area for the different customer uses, all with the clever use of re-cladding, new furniture and finishes.

This has achieved its objective of giving the venue much greater day time use as an eating venue, together with retaining its position as the premier night time venue in Mansfield.

The latest bar in the Yates ‘Laurel Refurbishment Programme’ opened in March 2006 in Glasgows West George Street.

Our brief was to make the first floor more dining orientated during the day, transforming to a chill out area in the evening. The ground floor was to maintain its high activity feel at night time with comfortable furniture for the daytime trade.

The design enhances the classical interior of the building in a contemporary way with concealed lighting, use of colours and wallpapers to help acheive the two different day and evening trades. Artwork was specifically chosen from Scottish artists to further enhance the design and its location.

The building is listed and within a conservation area which imposed its own criteria in fulfilling the brief. In the first three months of opening, trade increased by 20% with food trade up by 30%.

Part of the ‘Infinity refurbishment programme’ based around a limited £100k spend.

Our concept changed the interiors to make them more female friendly, drive greater food sales during the day and still retain that unique evening atmosphere. This particular venue was unique in it being more student led during the week with a greater degree of shoppers over the weekend.

The first floor has been designed for 5 American Pool tables and the ground floor is more dining orientated. The programme has been completed in 35 units and the customer base has changed getting older especially during the day and the sites are showing double digit growth in year on year sales.
